Our Privacy Promise
This page is the promise we make about your privacy — and it also serves as Wishizzle's official Privacy Policy.
Last updated: August 20, 2026 (Holiday Beta)
Wishizzle helps you save gift ideas, share one list, and let gift buyers reserve items without creating an account. This policy explains what information the Wishizzle website and mobile app collect, how we use it, and the promises we make about keeping gift surprises private. Questions any time: hello@wishizzle.com.
Our promise
- Gift buyers never need an account to view or reserve items.
- List owners never see who reserved or bought a gift — only that an item is reserved.
- We do not ask for or store shipping or home addresses.
- We collect the minimum the product needs, and we do not sell personal data or run third-party advertising trackers.
Information we collect
On this website
This website collects Holiday Beta waitlist requests through the beta form. If you submit the form, we collect your email address, selected role, optional occasion, consent status, basic source information, and any message you choose to send. We use that information to operate the beta, understand who is interested, and reply when needed. The website does not use third-party advertising trackers.
If you create an account (list makers)
Creating a list requires an account. We collect your email address, a display name, and a password. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication (a Google service); we never see or store your password in plain text.
Your lists and items
The content you add — list names, item names, product links, prices, notes, and photos — is stored in our database and file storage (Google Firebase) so we can show your lists to you and to the people you share them with.
If you open a shared list (gift buyers)
Buyers do not create accounts. When you open a shared list, the app uses an anonymous session — a random identifier with no email, name, or password attached. When you reserve or buy an item, we store a reservation record containing that anonymous identifier, the item, and the reservation status, so we can prevent duplicate gifts and let you change your mind later. That is the minimum needed to make reservations work.
Usage analytics
To improve reliability, the app records limited events about how items get added — the capture method (pasted link, share sheet, barcode scan, or manual entry), whether it succeeded, and how long it took. These events deliberately exclude item names, raw product URLs, buyer identities, and addresses.
Push notifications
If you turn on notifications, we store your device's push token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and platform so we can deliver the notifications you asked for. Notifications about reservations never include the buyer's identity.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for or store shipping addresses, home addresses, or payment card details. Purchases happen on the retailer's own site, not inside Wishizzle.
How buyer anonymity works
Reservation details are stored so that only the buyer who made them can read them. The list owner's view is limited to an item-level status such as “Reserved” — it never includes who reserved it. Notifications sent to list owners are built the same way: item and list context only, no buyer identity. This is a core product rule, not an option.
Affiliate links
When a buyer taps through to a store from a shared list, the link may be converted into an affiliate link through a partner network (currently Skimlinks). The affiliate code is added on our servers; the price you see and pay at the retailer is never changed, and no personal information about you is shared with the network by Wishizzle. If an affiliate link cannot be generated, you are sent to the original product page unchanged. Wishizzle may earn a commission on qualifying purchases. We also maintain a plain-language Affiliate Disclosure.
Service providers
Wishizzle runs on Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, file storage, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Messaging for push notifications). Data is processed on Google's infrastructure in the United States. The website also uses Vercel to host and measure basic website activity, and uses Go High Level / LeadConnector to store Holiday Beta waitlist submissions and related consent/source fields. We share data with these providers only to operate the product, the website, and the beta waitlist.
How we use information
- Show your lists to you and the people you share them with.
- Coordinate reservations and prevent duplicate gifts.
- Deliver notifications you have enabled.
- Fix bugs and improve how reliably items can be saved.
- Respond when you email us.
We do not sell personal data, we do not use third-party advertising SDKs, and we will not send you marketing email you did not ask for.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active or while a beta conversation with you is open.
You can delete your account from the app: Profile → Delete account. Deleting removes your lists, items, profile, settings, and uploaded images. Gifts you reserved on someone else's list stay reserved, without identifying you.
Email hello@wishizzle.com to request a copy of your data, or if you cannot use the in-app delete path.
Children
Wishizzle is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Parents manage kids' gift lists from their own accounts.
Changes to this policy
Wishizzle is in beta, so this policy will evolve with the product. We will update this page when it changes and notify beta users of any material change before it takes effect.
